A very nice Mandelbulb abstract, Vince, and a great title! The colors and the transparencies give the illusion of large glass store fronts, and the swirl patters in the walkways suggest the traces of people speeding to their destination. Great sense of motion. I also like the choice of muted blues and browns for this image. Nicely done!
I'm curious what kinds of changes you made to the basic render in Photoshop. Feel free to keep that a secret if you'd like - I'll enjoy the image in any case!
Thank you Vic, I'm glad you like it! No secrets at all You must know I often save separate images during rendering: in most cases a clean rendering, plus additional ones with different hard shadows; sometimes I save a reflections/transparency one too. I blend the different images in Photoshop for fine tuning of hard shadows (usually calculated too sharp) or to add muted reflection effects. I can't remember all I do in post-production because it's part of the creative process and I don't keep track of my actions, but in this case you're lucky because I remember I placed a heavy reflections rendering on the clean rendering saved before calculating reflections. The layer was blended in 'difference' mode in Photoshop and the effect you can see here came from this very action
